What
is Lotr Dreamers? |
At LotrDreams we aim to serve you, the members, as best we can
whilst sharing in the legacy that was left in our hearts with the coming
of Lord of the Rings and the master himself, J.R.R.Tolkien. As a site,
we are able to bring together fans from all over the world and unite
them in safe secure surroundings where they can meet, discuss and learn
together. Unfortunately, nothing in this world is free and whilst cost
are kept to an absolute minimum, finances do still come into play. At
the moment, costs are at a reasonably low, but with each post, each
piece of information and each image that goes onto the server and with
each click on the site, we are using valuable bandwidth space.
We will never ask anyone to cease or slow down with their posting, nor
will we place a price on the enjoyment and knowledge gained here, what
we are here to share has no limits and there can be no price put on the
experience you can live with us. No matter what, we will find a way to
continue the journey, but for those who do wish to actively support and
help us keep the site secure, you shall have the gratitude of not only
ourselves, but of each and every member that comes here.
Costs are currently being financed by ourselves (The Overseers), we have
paid for one years hosting with a large amount of bandwidth, but in
order to cope with the high demand and the wonderful levels of activity,
we shall soon find ourselves seeking the need for a dedicated server,
and with that comes extra costs. Please note, not one penny/dime/cent
etc is for profit purposes, nor do we intend to purchase unnecessary
programmes or services. Cost are kept to an absolute minimum and all we
ask is that we are able to keep the site running for the benefit of the
members.

How
do I become a Dreamer? |
There are many plans and many dreams for a wonderful future, all of
which will take time, but with your help, be that through your valuable
presence or through whatever other means you are able, we can make those
dreams come true.
Dreamers are those that are willing and able to actively support the
site by means of donating some form of regular financial assistance.
|
|
Will
it cost me anything? |
Only what you are willing and able to
afford:
- A Standard one month membership costs
£2:00
- A premium one month membership costs
£4:00
- If you would not like to become a
dreamer but would still like to make a one-off donation of any amount,
this option is also available
Both Standard and Premium memberships
offer discounts for those willing and able to commit over a longer time
period.

What
are the benefits? |
Unlike other similar websites that create vast differences
between their paying and non-paying members usually to cajole more people
to join their support programme. It is our dream to have no difference
between any of our members no matter how they support the Dream. Becoming
a Dreamer should be all about your wish and ability to support the
dream and help keep our site up-to-date and online, not to gain extra
status or access to extra facilities.
What you will receive:
- A simple entry into our Dreamers
Membership page, HERE
- A subtle Dreamers image in your
profile,
- Our gratitude and the appreciation of
all the members who share the dream with you.
The above will show that you financially support the dream and help
keep our website functioning on a daily basis.
(If you would rather remain an anonymous Dreamer, please be sure to
inform us via email at lotrdreamers@lotrdreams.com.)

What
happens to the Money? |
All funds generated for the
Lotrdreams website are used to support the dream by paying for the upkeep
and running cost of the website. Though at the moment the running costs
are reasonably low, we do expect a need to move in the near future
to a designated server. This will considerably increase our running costs
but will also increase the kind of service we can offer the members both
now and into the future.
Any money left after the years running costs have been paid and a small
kitty set aside for emergencies, will be passed onto charities nominated
and chosen by you, the members (subject to checks and verification of
the charities status)
Receipts will then be stored on the Dreamers page where members can see
the extended benefits that LotrDreams and yourselves can
offer...together.

Can
I just Donate? |
Yes you can!
Donating as little or as much as you like couldn't
be simpler with PayPals donation facility, quick and easy to use and yet
versatile enough for anybody's circumstances. As in most things these days
a small charge is levied against us by PayPal and as such we have had to
set a minimum donation of £1:00.

Parents
Corner |
Errmmm, why is my child running away with
my purse?
Oh no, catch them quick, that’s not quite what we had in mind!
LotrDreams is a non-profitmaking site. We don’t have any millionaires
tucked away in any cupboards but what we do have is a small amount of
overheads that need to be covered in order for us to stay afloat. These
overheads include paying for the domain name, the web hosting company,
licenses and any other minor yet essential bills that we need to stay
online. None of our staff or admins are paid in any way shape or form
and we do not gain in any way whatsoever from any monies received.
So who does gain? The members, your child or even you
yourself if they have successfully convinced you to join too. They
haven’t told you that bit yet? Ooops, trust me to let the cat out of the
bag too soon. Well, as you know now, what are you waiting for? Come and
see for yourself. LotrDreams is not just a place to play and chat, we
also have a very in-depth role-play environment where your child can and
will improve their writing skills. We have areas where role-play
training is given, areas where your child receives advice and
instruction from an experienced player, that
will teach them about how to add the 4D’s to their posts. Depth, detail,
dialogue and description.
They
learn in an environment that is nothing like the normal schoolwork
format, whereby they are learning whilst having fun in a safe and
friendly environment. For those who do not have English as a first
language, there is prime and ample opportunity to continue and improve
language skills, again, in a normal everyday environment where English
is used in a more informal and relaxed setting. What better way to learn
the difference between there, their and they’re than among those that
use it in everyday life, many of whom also do not speak English as their
native tongue, but who have learned and experienced its use enough to
know now, thanks to the unity and comradeship we all share here. The one
place in the world where wars are only make believe and everybody can
speak, interact, learn and play together in peace.
LotrDreams is a place that is made as safe as possible for your children
by our wonderful teams of admins and moderators. We are not just here
for idle chat, gossip and txt cht wiv UR M8s, we are an organised site
that brings together people from all over the world, but in order for us
to continue doing so, we need your help.
As for any excess funds received, Lord of The Rings
Dreams will be donating any excess (after finances have been covered and
a small amount for nasty surprises is put by) to a charity nominated and
chosen by the members. The financial details for which will be readily
available as we have them.
*Pokes* Now come on kids, give your parents their purses back and let
them make up their own mind.
If you would like to find out more, feel free to
contact the admin team via the contact form accessible through the site
HERE.
If you would like to speak with somebody further or have any questions,
the site is regularly monitored and a reply will be with you as soon as
possible.
If financial help is not in your means or you simply do not wish to
contribute in this way, we would still like to thank you implicitly for
allowing your child's continued activity and contributions in making others LotrDreams come true.
