Topic: Lothlorien's craft Posted: 04 Aug 2008 at 19:54 |
I now have developed irreversable proof that the elves weren't all "earth friendly" and really creating amazing feats of technology. The boats of Lothlorien the fellowship takes in their parting are said to be "unsinkable" and that got me started thinking. You know what else is unsinkable? Styrofoam. Hence, the elves manufactured and replicated much of this process first handed down by sauron!
I couldn't resist the urge any longer. It had to be said

Many that live who deserve death, and many that die who deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then be not too eager to deal out death in the name of justice, fearing for your own safety

Hmm - cork? Lots of wine from Dorwinion floating around there in ME - I reckon they must have have something similar as there's nothing much as good as cork to stop your bottle up - and we know Bilbo had bottles of Old Winyards and various other alcoholic beverages I think... Yup he did - just checked!
Styrofoam boats huh? They'd have been b*ggers to handle and even the non-Brandybuck hobbits managed that allegedly. Now the PJ Lorien boats - obviously styrofoam as no decent boat-builder would tart them up to that degree with all that beautifully carving all over, even on Her Nibs lovely swan barge... not very hydro-dynamic!

Hmm, that begs the question. Cork comes from Australia, doesn't it? I am not sure, but can you imagine an Aussie elf?
I for one wonder if they have chocolate in ME.
Styrofoam... I just got an image of Galadriel receiving her ring from Sauron's minion... Amazon!

I fervently believe they had chocolate in ME Zaphira - well they better have had it in Rivendell! Semi-seriously though Elves had such a rough time of it during the First and Second Ages and with the Exiles returning from the West are Morgoth pinched the Silmarils I'm sure there were some sensible Elfies who brought some chocs with them so they had something to remind them of home.
Strangely enough the Hobbits never seem to have got to know about chocolate (well Bilbo hadn't got any at all his parties had he?) which probably said something for the foresight of the Elves as the little b*ggers would probably have pinched it off 'em!
As for cork - the trees are grown in Portugal and Spain and I'm sure in other places around the Med.

Thanks for clearing that one up, there was a documentary about it some time ago. I wasn't sure where it was filmed.
And yes, I agree fervently. There had better be chocolate in Lothlorien too. Otherwise what would be the point in fantasizing about Middle Earth!
Thinks: Haldir, Boromir, Faramir.... Okay, there are a good lot of brave wonderful men to dream about ... still not a substitute for choc is it?

Of course there is chocolate in Middle Earth - I have a chocolate cake recipe any Elf would KILL for!
