... time to move on
to new challenges! LotRDreams was created over two years ago now and for a small roleplay forum site has repeatedly hit the heights due to you all, our members', excellent writing skills and lively, friendly attitude.
For those who keep the forums and the site running, throughout it has been a pleasure working and playing alongside you all, but over the last 12 months we have had to face hard facts and acknowledge that we are failing to thrive. Participation has always been the spectre at our feast and though we have kept going, all the time playing very happily, the RAs realised that drastic action had to be considered if we were to survive at all...
And so - let us introduce you to a new kind of fandom & RP site...
DreamWorlds

can drift... or play... unwind... or dream... Presenting the friendliest, most diverse forum community on the web DreamWorlds
Celebrations, Fun and Games  This is where everyone can get some me-time! Relax, let your hair down, or chat to friends, old, new or yet to be. On DreamWorlds you can start your own thread in any of our forums and in this one, you can celebrate birthdays (yours or a friend’s), play word games, or trivia quizzes, or have a party maybe - just because you want one! There are plenty of people just waiting to have fun with you!
 What’s your passion? Chances are you’ll find something you love doing, or talking about in our Hobbies and Pastimes forum... And if you can’t find your favourite leisure pursuit, well - just start your own thread! Tell us all about your favourite sport, activity, or way to while away a rainy weekend. From rag-rug making to rugby, bowls to bobbin-weaving! If you like it - talk about it!
Our Two Roleplay Games Forums
Are you a TV, book, comic, anime or movie fan? Do you ever wish you were a Jedi Knight? A Wizard or a Witch? Maybe even a Vampire or Werewolf? Do you long to 'explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations?' Well you can - on DreamWorlds!
In fact, you can do all that in 2 different ways! In 2 textual roleplay forums, you can re-invent yourself as a star-ship trooper, or fight the Black Knight - or even Voldemort... if you want to! The Dream Worlds
 In our forum we currently play in Tolkien’s Middle Earth, but, as we grow, if enough people want it, we could provide more dedicated fandom environments for Star Wars or Hogwarts or any other genre of SF&F too - help us decide what to build next! If enough people want to play on Tatooine, or in Narnia, or Ankh-Morpork, then they can! Initially in our freeform roleplay area... DreamGalaxies
This is likely to be our busiest forum and here you could get to play your favourite characters from your best-loved TV programmes, books, comics, animes or movies etc. And if your favourite genre flies, then we’ll let you all loose in your very own forum, for even more immersive fun!
And now it's time for you, our friends and favourite players, to come and join us on the new site and tell us what you think of LotrDreams' new home!
There's still some work to be done and we wanted you all to be the first to be able to access the new site and preview and explore Dreamworlds with us. We've therefore registered all our regular players on DreamWorlds already and so, on
~ Monday 8th of June 2009 at 1800H GMT ~
you'll be let loose into a playground that you will find familiar, but also (we hope) better, bigger in scope and full of potential to chat, make friends, play and explore not only Tolkien's Arda but as many other fantasy worlds and fandoms as you could wish for.
e-mails will be sent out on Sunday 7th June giving you access details and temporary passwords to see the future of LotrDreams ~ DreamWorlds! Any questions please post in here and Jano (Vaire), Miah and Galen will provide more information and updates as the preview gets underway

Important information for DreamWorlds previewers Hopefully people won't need this information, but if you've come back here, having failed to get onto the new site and have not been able to get help from Jano, Galen or Miah please do not panic - yet anyway
 We have had reports from testers given their account details early that they cannot get in - please use the login page link given in the email notification sent to you and, (obviously) the username and password assigned.
DO NOT TRY TO REGISTER YOUR DETAILS
We have already registered you and the registration page is disabled during the preview period so only those taking part in the preview can access the site. Also please remember that DreamWorlds does not open for preview until
~ Monday 8th of June 2009 at 1800H (London) ~ If you have any trouble logging onto the site after that then please contact me by PM on here or by email/MSN (details here) for a quick response.

Hey guys, yea im kinda back. i donno if i can get the time to post again like i used to and such but im gonna try and get back to how i was and post a bunch and stuff. THis year has been fairly hectic with college, and servy having 2 surgeries as well as some other exciting events. It's quite good to be back to say hello. Also want to say my dearest apologies to anyone who was hindered when i went absent without much notice. Gonna try to be back and post again but can't promise i will be very active.
As for the site, i can log on but apprently i need to activate it, donno if i got the link to do that, advice on that? |

Nice to see you about again Eridor - worry not about activation, that'll be seen to in about 6 hours (and counting down!) then you'll get in there OK but be prepared to be shocked and awed!  and we've all found it hard to keep posting away on here because there were so few people about and therefore not much to do - and it all became a vicious, self-fulfilling circle of apathy and inertia.
Now we have a clean slate and fresh new outlook - DreamWorlds has a different focus and isn't at all reliant on Tolkien-based activities though LotrDreams will play an important part in future ventures as an excellent model of immersive single genre roleplay - and we have a lot of redevelopment work to do in there too. So lots of new ideas and concepts that need thrashing out and working on.
I could go on but there's too much and you can find out for yourselves pretty soon now anyway.
However a final word to old members who are looking in now, but haven't been on the site for a while and so haven't been invited to the preview phase...
If you'd like to take part in the previews or find out more about DreamWorlds, please PM Miah or myself and we'll see about stamping your passport

I've got a question, or two! 1 Will this mean either the immediate shut-down of Lotr Dreams or the gradual shut-down, or will you be keeping up this site indefinitely?
2 When will the website be disclosed...to moi? =D

Sivan - I thought we'd emailed you with the joining details? Maybe we have an old addy -
Will PM you in a mo with details of how to get into the new site but in the meantime Dreams will remain open for the rest of this month but we'll be gradually locking threads down once the new place is fully opened(beginning of July with any luck).
We will then be using Dreams as an archive, so it will remain open for viewing as it stands and after a time will be relocated as an archive for DreamWorlds within the new site.
Part of the reason for the preview phase is so everyone can move over the threads they have created or enjoyed onto the new site so if you've got any fave threads then you can start transferring them over once you've had a tour of the new homestead - all you need do is C/P the post(s) onto a new thread.
 Now get over to your PM and get logged in!

How quiet this place now has become... thought it is also a kind of relieve being back here. Pity things are being locked down here, while actual nothing is wrong here really. But that is my mind on this side of the medal. I have copied the whole story of Galdor over to my own forumsite where it has become a readable story. I would like to keep my inlogrights.

We'll all miss Dreams but it's not dead - just moved on and in the end the site is the people who play there. So same friends, different, bigger playground and the possibility of making lots of new ones.

Is OK Vorn - like we're saying further up Dreams is going to remain open for quite a bit longer - certainly more than a few weeks and we'll leave a breadcrumb trail for anyone who missed the 1st phase of swans...
