It's good to see you in Mordor, Indis!!  Both Sivan and Miah are right, Eridor is the guy to talk to about opening up new threads.  He's the ruler of Mordor, they guy with the Witchking icon, so it's best to get his approval before opening any threads.  Probably the best, fastest and most expedient way to get that approval is to pm (private messenger) him, or use the ruler's e-mail addy, the opening post of the thread you wish to start.  As far as restrictions, there aren't too many.  Anyone may open a thread, although approval is generally needed, and most spam is not allowed.  It must be family friendly and Dream appropriate.  The best way to figure out if you are within guidelines is simply to propose what type of thread you had in mind to Eridor.  Also, most of us are always willing to let you bounce your idea off of us if you wish, and we can give you a pretty good idea of whether it will fly or not.

If we haven't got one though I definately think it would be a good idea to start one.  Once we start *hopefully* having RPG's it'll make things a lot easier.

I joined a while ago, but never really got into the swing of things. I was wondering how this place worked and how it's different from another popular Lord of the Rings Forum that I'm a part of.

What the Uruk (Baggers) is trying to say is that you will find much that is familar on here to that place whence you hail, but the atmosphere is more accessible and also more inclusive in some respects - in other words, because we're so much smaller it's a lot easier to mingle and get to know people on here.

 

True Minions have some limitations in the other forums in the serious and canon areas, but there are ways to play them enjoyably - all you have to do is ask in an OOC area or, better yet, use the PM system which is a 'privilege' that has no restrictions on here. This is a much less public and comfortable place to discuss more sensitive matters should the need arise, or just enjoy some privacy to plot or plan away from the threads...

 

I should also perhaps mention that at present, because there are few true minions about, we are currently without an active moderator for Mordor - however the redoubtable Lyrch is doing a truly appalling job deputising for Sauron or Witchy-poop-his-pants *coughs * - which I suppose means the ole place is not untended nor uncared for, so any ideas or comments you have can be taken to him if he's about, or to any other Ruler/Admin who's floating by - just check the memberlist to see who's about if you don't get a reply to anything pressing.  

I have never really administered a website, though I started a few that never really took off, a Fantasy/Sci-fi one called Fantasci ... still might be around but I forgot my password for it!  I was also a part administrator for an Alan Rickman forum but that failed as there were some people on there that were rather ... nasty, and I quit that one, asked the founder to delete my membership and everything, first one I truly left!

What we Minions should really do is slowly encroach upon the authority of the other kingdoms, and one by one, we will gain all power....and this shall no longer be called LotR Dreams--- but the DREAMS OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR, OUR DEAR LEADER SAURON!
